Hey all this is Derrick Ward (a.k.a. Wind). I am writing this blog to give my fans a little insight into my day-to-day life. They call me Wind because of my ability to do everything: pass protect, be shifty, catch the ball, and run hard between the tackles. However, you may not know that the main reason I am called, “Wind” is because of my laid back, easygoing California personality.
When I am not at football I just try to get a lot of sleep. Last night I watched Street Kings and I loved the plot of a corrupt California cop. I am all about drama, action and suspense movies and my favorite movie right now would have to be the new Batman. Sometimes after Monday’s practice I will head down to Atlantic City with a couple of friends just to get away for the night. I enjoy going out and trying new restaurants as often as possible. For those of you who were wondering I am not a gamer, in fact I am an old soul who enjoys reading the newspaper every morning while drinking a cup of coffee.
I wanted to let my fans know about my new website www.DWard34.com and the T-shirt design that I came up with. I think the shirt is unique in the fact that it accentuates a picture of me after scoring a touchdown and the overall design is a true depiction of my personality. When I was a boy I never thought I would be able to have my own image on shirt, it’s humbling and I am grateful for the opportunity that I have been given.
This week we are heading into Arizona with a 9-1 record, which is a true testament to our overall team cohesiveness. Offensively our team goals are to rush and pass for 200+ yards each. That is going to be a battle this week because the Cardinals are only giving up 87 yards a game on the ground. My role will be the same this week as it has previously been. Brandon Jacobs had a full work out today and will be ready for Sunday’s game.

I am also an "old Soul" so I can relate to you on that note ;) it's just amazing how your "laid back" but yet soo explosive on the field haha it's mind blowing just to watch you play.I will be sitting in the stands to watch you guys play sooner than later! until then I will be rooting for you #34!!!! ~Nyla

Okay...so I can honestly say im your BIGGEST fan since I've been there since day 1. Carson Stallions, transitioning to Carson Colts, then Banning Pilots..i can go on and on and on..but Im not because we both know what happens after all this..Man, I am sooo very proud of you!! I always knew you would be a big name someday, and here you are..I am so happy that you remained humble through it all. Please stay this way because you are the only person that I look up to right now. Big D Ward!! Man, its sooo cool to have you as a brother and to know that you are going places, seriously! Keep up the good work, continue to stay healthy and strong, and the rest will lead its way to a glorious future. I love you, and hope to see you soon!!
