GAME TIME BABY!!!

What up everyone, its your boy D Ward here. We have a night game, so I woke up early had some breakfast and now just writing this blog on my hotel bed in Dallas.

Tough loss last week at home versus the Eagles, I cant say too much other than the fact that it was a wake up call for our team. We were blessed to clinch the division with the Steelers 20-13 win against the Cowboys who we face this week in the big NBC Sunday Night Football showdown from Irving, Texas.

My partner in crime with this running attack, 27 Brandon Jacobs left our last game early with an aggravated knee. He is sitting this game out so the load is now on me and my other partner in crime Ahmad Bradshaw. Reuben Droughns and Danny Ware might see some action, they are both hard workers and are both ready for the challenge. Dallas has one of the fastest defenses I have faced this year, but our offense has played together for a long time, we are in sync and we are focused on the task at hand, by guaranteeing ourselves a first-round postseason bye and stay in the lead in the race for home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

We are excited at the opportunity to show America how good we really were, and that the team everyone saw highlights of loosing to the Eagles has come and gone for good! I am excited to show how versatile our team is without certain players, I'm just real excited to go out and play football! Dallas is going to try and shut down our running game and force Eli and our receivers to make big plays. We will not loose focus on Giants style football and we will be patient all game playing with fire in our hearts.

I wanted to thank all of you who have been commenting, I know I need to get back to yall and I will plan on answering all the questions that are posted from today to Tuesday. Then on Tuesday, we had the L-R-G 10th year anniversary photo shoot, had the pleasure of meeting some of the finest names in Hip-Hop, DJ Jazzy Jeff (Will Smiths old DJ and co-star in "Fresh Prince of Bel Air"), Swizz Beatz, Wale, Pete Rock, Smith & Wesson and many more. Shout out to my boy Saia of L-R-G for getting with my agent Audie Attar to make that happen! Lets go Big Blue!!! GAME TIME BABY!!!

My Life

What's going on Giant's fans.. It's your boy D Ward getting ready to go to sleep but I just wanted to drop in real quick and let you know what's really going on. Sorry I have been MIA for the last week things have kind of been hectic here in New York. Certain media organizations chose to report false news, which then got the police involved. Once the police realized that I wasn't at the club or involved at all my agents Peter Schaffer and Audie Attar released several press statements regarding the incident. I also did an interview on Sports Center reassuring the public that I had nothing to do with this situation. This is an unfortunate situation for Plaxico and our team anytime you see one of our brothers in any type of situation it's disheartening. We care about Plaxico, he is our brother and I want to wish him the best and I hope he comes out of this a stronger person.

I just want to put this all behind me. I have a great team, coaching staff, and management staff supporting me. I am going to continue to work hard for my team and for the city of New York. I am blessed to have this opportunity to play in the NFL, the New York Giants, and I would never take it for granted. I am going to work extra hard on and off the field to represent the New York Giants to the best of my ability.

I have had a great week of practice regardless of all the media distractions. The Giants are resilient and we don't crack under pressure. As many people know New York is one of the most scrutinized cities when it comes to sports franchises. We are currently 11-1 and in prime position to make another run for the super bowl. My teammates, coaching staff, and I will not let anything get in our way to achieve our ultimate goal in winning another super bowl. Philadelphia's defense has been susceptible to big plays this year, so I am going to do my best running and catching the ball to make things happen. It's going to be a cold one so bundle up and I will catch you post game for another blog. After this week I will be back on my regular schedule and sorry again for this unfortunate situation. Day to Day Life

Hey all this is Derrick Ward (a.k.a. Wind). I am writing this blog to give my fans a little insight into my day-to-day life. They call me Wind because of my ability to do everything: pass protect, be shifty, catch the ball, and run hard between the tackles. However, you may not know that the main reason I am called, “Wind” is because of my laid back, easygoing California personality.

When I am not at football I just try to get a lot of sleep. Last night I watched Street Kings and I loved the plot of a corrupt California cop. I am all about drama, action and suspense movies and my favorite movie right now would have to be the new Batman. Sometimes after Monday’s practice I will head down to Atlantic City with a couple of friends just to get away for the night. I enjoy going out and trying new restaurants as often as possible. For those of you who were wondering I am not a gamer, in fact I am an old soul who enjoys reading the newspaper every morning while drinking a cup of coffee.

I wanted to let my fans know about my new website www.DWard34.com and the T-shirt design that I came up with. I think the shirt is unique in the fact that it accentuates a picture of me after scoring a touchdown and the overall design is a true depiction of my personality. When I was a boy I never thought I would be able to have my own image on shirt, it’s humbling and I am grateful for the opportunity that I have been given.

This week we are heading into Arizona with a 9-1 record, which is a true testament to our overall team cohesiveness. Offensively our team goals are to rush and pass for 200+ yards each. That is going to be a battle this week because the Cardinals are only giving up 87 yards a game on the ground. My role will be the same this week as it has previously been. Brandon Jacobs had a full work out today and will be ready for Sunday’s game.

This site will be your avenue to find out everything you need to know about me, Derrick Ward. As you know, I am one of three running backs for the New York Giants. We have been dubbed “Earth, Wind, and Fire.”

There has been some early controversy over whether I am Wind or Fire spurred on by an article involving Justin Tuck. For those of you who don’t know, or who missed the Sunday morning pre-game show I dubbed myself as Wind. I want to know which label you think I am and why. You can comment on my blog to let me know what you think.
